Israel’s President Isaac Herzog arrived Monday in Astana, opening his official visit to Kazakhstan, where he was welcomed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a formal reception at the presidential palace.
At the center of the visit was a private meeting between the two leaders, followed by an expanded bilateral session with senior Kazakh officials, focusing on strengthening ties and advancing strategic cooperation between the countries.
During the meeting, President Tokayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s respect for Jewish heritage, stating: “Here in Kazakhstan, we honor the resting place of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the father of The Rebbe. The site, located in Almaty, is considered a national cultural landmark for our people, and I believe it reflects a very positive legacy and cooperation between our nations.”
President Herzog expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan and welcomed its stated interest in joining the Abraham Accords, as well as its participation in international peace initiatives.
