With less than two months remaining until the Yahrtzeit of the Rebbe’s father on 20 Menachem Av, registration has officially opened for a historic direct charter flight from Israel to the Ohel of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Excitement is building among Chassidim in Eretz Yisroel and around the world as details of the unprecedented charter flight are announced. The special trip will span just 24 hours, allowing participants to fulfill the concept of “Ben Yechabed Av” while minimizing time away from home and family.
The charter is scheduled in honor of the Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, father of the Rebbe, which falls on 20 Menachem Av. The journey is open to both men and women, with separate prayer areas being arranged.
The flight will be operated aboard Airbus A330, the newest wide-body aircraft in the fleet of Israir Airlines. The aircraft, which landed at Ben Gurion Airport for the first time only last weekend, will transport hundreds of Chassidim directly to Kazakhstan IYH. Organizers note that flying with an Israeli airline provides passengers with an added sense of security during the current security situation.
The spacious Airbus A330, recently acquired as part of Israir’s fleet expansion, is expected to provide a new standard of comfort for the rare journey. The aircraft features multiple seating classes, including upgraded premium options offering additional personal space, with its interior layout carefully designed to maximize passenger comfort throughout the flight.
According to the organizers, this marks the first time an aircraft of this size has been dedicated entirely to a private charter flight to the Rebbe’s father’s Tzion in Almaty.
Until now, travel to the Tziyun in Kazakhstan typically involved lengthy connecting flights and extended layovers in airports around the world. The new initiative eliminates those challenges by providing a direct and efficient route, enabling participants to arrive refreshed and prepared for tefillah, Torah study, and personal and communal prayers, as well as learning the Torah of the Baal HaHilula and his son, the Rebbe.
Through careful logistical planning, the organizers say they have secured an unprecedented discounted fare designed to make the trip accessible to the wider Anash community. Pricing and additional details are expected to be released in the coming days.
Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Niyazov, representing the organizing committee of Tiferes Zekeinim Levi Yitzchak, said the decision to charter the new Airbus followed expectations that this year’s demand will reach record levels.
“We clearly see the tremendous yearning of Chassidim to strengthen their connection to the Rebbe and fulfill the concept of ‘Ben Yechabed Av’ in the most beautiful way,” he said.
The flight itself is expected to become a “Farbrengen in the skies,” featuring Chassidus classes, Hachana Farbrengens, and study of the teachings of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, whose Torah uniquely blended Nigleh and Nistar.
Organizers are also preparing special study booklets and personalized travel kits for every passenger.
In Almaty, extensive logistical preparations are already underway to accommodate the large number of expected visitors. Working closely with the Rebbe’s Shluchim in Kazakhstan, organizers will establish large hospitality tents, provide Kosher food, and arrange comprehensive security measures for the duration of the visit.
Registration for the historic charter is now open, and organizers expect seats aboard the Airbus A330 to fill quickly.
