On Thursday afternoon, the Israeli Air Force carried out a series of precise strikes on Houthi terror targets in Sana’a, Yemen. The operation took place while the Houthi leader was delivering a speech, and according to security sources, a meeting of senior Houthi officials was underway at the targeted location. Israeli defense officials assess that several high-ranking members of the Houthi terror apparatus were killed.

The IDF confirmed the strike, describing it as a targeted attack on the military infrastructure of the Iranian-backed Houthi regime in the Sana’a area. In a statement, the IDF said: “Since the start of Operation Swords of Iron, the Houthi terror regime has acted aggressively, under Iranian guidance and funding, seeking to harm Israel and its allies, destabilize the region, and disrupt global shipping. The IDF operates with full force against the Houthi terror regime, while simultaneously intensifying operations against Hamas in Gaza, and will continue to act to remove any threat to Israeli civilians.”

The decision to strike was approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, and senior IDF commanders, in consultation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu via secure line.

Katz warned in a statement: “As we have told the Houthis in Yemen: after the plague of darkness comes the plague of the firstborn. Anyone who raises a hand against Israel — it will be cut off.”

The strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing efforts to neutralize threats from Iranian-backed terror organizations across the region, including both Hamas in Gaza and the Houthis in Yemen.
