The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of certain frozen salmon products due to concerns over possible listeria contamination.
The recall affects two-pound packages of Wellsley Farms Farm Raised Atlantic Salmon, which were sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club locations between January 31 and February 7. Officials say the products were distributed in multiple states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, along with several additional regions.
Listeria is a potentially dangerous bacteria that can cause serious illness, particularly for older adults, young children, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and other complications.
Consumers who purchased the affected salmon are being urged not to consume the product. The FDA advises customers to contact the company at 1-888-628-0730 for guidance on refunds or product disposal. Officials continue monitoring the situation to prevent further health risks.
