The Man Behind The New Edition of Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch
Rabbi Avraham Alashvilli, celebrated his 50th birthday in a gala dinner honoring his tremendous achievements in the field of Halacha, starting with his monumental work “Kitzur Hilchos Shabbos” which he wrote at the tender age of 28, which was followed by his participation as the assistant editor of the new edition of the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, a project which he initiated and participated in, until it’s completion ● Full Story, Pictures
Rabbi Avraham Alashvilli, celebrated his 50th birthday in a gala dinner honoring his tremendous achievements in the field of Halacha, specifically the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch.
In a ceremony attended by leading Rabbis, politicians and Gevirim, the Rabbi’s achievements were put on display. Starting with his monumental work “Kitzur Hilchos Shabbos” which he wrote at the tender age of 28, which was followed by his participation as the assistant editor of the new edition of the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, a project which he initiated and participated in, until it’s completion.
He did not pause then, rather he continued his work, producing a scholarly edition of Hilchos Birchos HaNehenin with explanations and English translation of hard words, followed by his newest project, a new edition of the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, with Nekudos, which will hit the stores by Tishrei.
The event began with words by MK Avraham Michaeli, the Knesset member representing the Georgian Jewish community, of which Rabbi Alashvilli is a prominent member, being the son of the former Chief Rabbi of Georgian Jewry, Chacham Refael Alashvilli, and is seen by many as the current leader of the Georgian Jewish community in Israel.
Among the speakers was Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, the Chief Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, and a world-renowned expert on Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, discussed the great work of Rabbi Alashvilli and his tremendous contribution to the study of Chabad’s code of law.
Irish-Jewish violinist Daniel Ahaviel entertained the crowd alongside Simche Friedman, a scion of the renowned musical Friedman family, which gave the world Avraham Fried and Benny Friedman.
