An 18-year-old Bochur studying in Tomchei Temimim was arrested after arriving at the military recruitment office with medical documentation relating to his condition, as part of an ongoing process he had been conducting with the IDF in recent weeks.
According to reports, the bochur had been working to regularize his military status and was instructed on Wednesday to bring the relevant medical documents to the recruitment office at Tel Hashomer.
Upon arriving, however, he was informed that he was under arrest.
That same evening, a military court hearing was held, and the bochur was sentenced to 20 days in military prison.
His parents say they are deeply concerned that his medical condition could deteriorate while in custody. They further claim that he was not permitted to speak with them for nearly 24 hours, from the time of his arrest until yesterday morning.
Chabad journalist Mendy Rizel reported that a military source responded by stating that officials at the Tel Hashomer recruitment center acted in accordance with established procedures.
