Yad L’Achim celebrated the publication this week of a special edition of the Tanya, translated into Arabic. Work on the text, known as the “Yad L’Achim Edition,” began on Elul 24, 5781, the 10th yahrtzeit of Hagaon Harav Shalom Duber Lifschitz, zt”l, who founded the organization and led it for 60 years. The Yad L’Achim Edition has two volumes – the regular Tanya, in Hebrew, and “Sha’ar Hayichud v’haEmunah” in Arabic. Rabbi Mendel Belhamou, Shliach in Ambergris Cay on the majestic Caribbean coast of the beautiful Central American country of Belize, conducted the printing of Tanya last night, 24 Teves, in honor of the Alter Rebbe’s yartzeit. The printing was followed by a special farbrengen in the Chabad House with members of the local community. The occasion was a double celebration, as 24 Teves is Rabbi Belhamou’s 30th birthday. The Tanya was printed for the first time on Texas’s South Padre Island, a beachy oasis on the southern tip of the state, with the help of bochurim Eli Superstein and Moshe Adelist, who traveled to the area on Merkos Shlichus.
