Thousands of flights to the East Coast, including routes to and from New York, have been canceled or are expected to be canceled, with more than 13,000 flights nationwide already removed from departure schedules. At least 21 states have declared states of emergency as the storm continues to intensify.

The storm has caused particularly severe conditions across several regions, with widespread power outages, heavy ice accumulation on roadways, and dangerous travel conditions. In some areas, roads have been fully closed, while emergency crews are operating around the clock to assist residents. According to estimates, approximately 190 million people are being directly affected by the extreme weather.

The aviation sector has been especially hard hit. American Airlines, based in Dallas, Texas, has canceled approximately 39 percent of its scheduled flights, while Delta Air Lines, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, has canceled about 31 percent of its flights, largely due to forecasts of severe weather in those areas. Additional widespread cancellations have also been reported throughout the Northeast, including New York and Boston.
