Chassidic singer Simcha Friedman has released “Oneg Shabbos,” the first single from his forthcoming second album, which is expected to be released in the near future.
Composed by Chaim Altman and arranged and produced by David Taub, the song is a gentle and joyful Chassidic waltz infused with the warmth and nostalgia of a classic Jewish melody.
Accompanying the release is a new music video filmed in Jerusalem, portraying the anticipation and preparation for Shabbos. From the bustling atmosphere of the city marketplace and the rhythm of the workweek to the final moments before candle-lighting, the video follows the transition from weekday activity to the serenity and joy of Shabbos.
Filmed and edited by Hershy Segal, the video seeks to capture the familiar feeling experienced by Jews around the world as Shabbos approaches and the home fills with song, family, and tranquility.
Speaking about the song, Friedman shared his personal connection to its message.
