Behind 770: Roof Installed on New Beis Medrash for Bochurim

Construction is advancing on the new temporary Beis Medrash behind 770, with the roof now installed. The facility will provide more than 300 additional seats for Bochurim learning at the Central Tomchei Temimim Yeshivah, 770, addressing the growing shortage of space to sit and learn near Beis Chayeinu. Construction is moving forward on the temporary Beis Medrash being built behind Beis Chayeinu, 770, with the installation of the roof marking another milestone in the project.

The new facility is intended to address the overcrowding at 770, where the large number of Bochurim learning throughout the day has made finding a seat and a suitable place to learn increasingly difficult.

The structure is being built on the site of the former Kollel Menachem building, which stood largely unused for more than two decades and had fallen into disrepair.

Kollel Menachem worked together with other organizations and neighboring property owners to establish a temporary solution that would meet the immediate need for additional learning space while allowing for the site’s future development.

Once completed, the new Beis Medrash will accommodate more than 300 Bochurim and yungeleit, with heating and air conditioning to provide a comfortable environment for learning throughout the year.

The facility is scheduled to open on Rosh Chodesh Kislev.

Kollel Menachem was established by the Rebbe in 5722 and became a renowned center of Torah study under the leadership of Harav Yosef Heller. The Kollel later moved to its current location on Kingston Avenue, while plans to renovate the old Union Street building never materialized. The new temporary structure will put the long-unused site back to use while providing much-needed space for the growing number of Talmidim in 770.
