Purim Miracles Amid War: Chabad Sderot Reaches 10,000 Participants and 300 Megillah Readings

Over the course of Purim, approximately 300 Megillah readings took place across Chabad centers, residential buildings, communities in Sha’ar HaNegev, and military bases and outposts. Despite last-minute changes and security challenges, volunteers worked tirelessly around the clock to ensure that no one was left out of the celebration.
At Chabad Sderot itself, readings were held every half hour near safe rooms, with about 7,000 participants attending in small groups over nearly 24 hours. Even under the shadow of war, the city was filled with light, unity, and joy — a clear testament to Hashem’s guiding hand.
More than 15,000 Mishloach Manos were distributed across the city and surrounding areas, bringing smiles, encouragement, and a sense of togetherness to thousands of homes. Families, children, and soldiers alike experienced the joy of Purim, even while sirens and alerts reminded everyone of the ongoing danger.
In the spirit of Purim — when Hashem’s salvation was revealed from behind the scenes — the celebrations in Sderot became a living demonstration of Divine Providence. The ability to gather, to rejoice, and to bring light to the community despite the threat of missiles is itself a modern-day Purim miracle.
The festivities concluded with a large, joyous Purim feast, continuing late into the night, filled with gratitude, unity, and spiritual elevation. Chabad of Sderot and the Sha’ar HaNegev communities showed once again that faith, courage, and joy can shine brighter than any challenge, illuminating the city even in the midst of war.
