On Lag BaOmer: Bochurim Prevent Massive Fire Near Railway Tracks
A remarkable story unfolded on Lag BaOmer afternoon, as a group of Bochurim traveling to organize a children’s parade in a community beyond the ‘Green Line’ in Eretz Yisrael, found themselves helping prevent what could have become a major disaster • Full Story
While riding the train with great enthusiasm on their way to the parade, the Bochurim suddenly noticed thick smoke rising from a brush fire dangerously close to the railway tracks and nearby homes.
Acting with impressive presence of mind, the Bochurim immediately contacted emergency and fire services, providing precise details of the fire’s location. Their quick response enabled firefighters to arrive within minutes – just before the flames could spread toward residential homes and railway infrastructure.
Fire and rescue officials who arrived at the scene warmly thanked the Bochurim for their alertness and rapid reporting, noting that their actions likely prevented a major fire from spiraling out of control in the intense midday heat.
When asked by security personnel where they drew such composure and initiative from, the Bochurim responded simply: “We are just the Rebbe’s Shluchim. When we set out, we knew the Rebbe was accompanying us. Our mission is to spread light and prevent darkness. We’re grateful we merited to prevent harm to fellow Jews on this holy day.”
Immediately after the incident concluded, the Bochurim continued to their original destination, where they opened the Lag BaOmer parade with tremendous joy together with hundreds of local children.
