Miracle in Yerushalayim: Sefer Torah, Mezuzahs, and Seforim Saved from Fire
Flames ripped through the Chabad House in Kiryat Moshe–Givat Shaul, causing massive damage — yet, unbelievably, every Sefer Torah, Mezuzah, and Sefer was saved. Even a Mezuzah at the heart of the fire remained untouched while everything around it burned • Full Story, Photos, Watch
The blaze, which ignited today around 7:15 p.m., caused heavy damage to the structure and property. By the grace of Heaven, there were no injuries. All the Seforim and the Sefer Torah were saved completely intact, without any damage.
A Mezuzah remained completely unscathed at the very heart of the flames, while the air conditioner above it and surrounding items were entirely burned and melted. A portrait of The Rebbe in the building also remained sharp and undamaged.
The fire broke out while the premises were empty, just a day after the Chabad House had been filled with Mispalelim for the Shabbos of Tu B’Av, and only days after it had hosted a summer camp for dozens of children.
This miracle echoes The Rebbe’s holy call regarding the 10 Mivtzoim — including Mivtza Mezuza, Mivtza Tefilin, Bayis Malei Seforim – filling one’s home with holy books, and Os B’Sefer Torah — which serve as protection and guardianship for the home and its residents.
