Children’s Sefer Torah: The Rebbe’s Message to Those Unable to Attend Siyum

Excitement is building throughout the Jewish world, especially among Anash in Eretz Yisrael and communities around the globe, ahead of the historic Siyum and Hachnasas Sefer Torah #9 at the Kosel • Read More

Today, Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av — twenty days before the grand celebration that will take place on Chof Menachem Av, the yahrtzeit of the Rebbe’s father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson — the major partnership campaign was launched to help cover the significant costs of the Hachnasas Sefer Torah event.

The Children’s Sefer Torah Committee is reminding Anash, particularly those living in the United States and abroad, of the Rebbe’s special instruction regarding those who are unable to participate in person. The Rebbe addressed the expenses involved during a farbrengen in 770, saying:

“Immediately when a child is born, one should purchase a letter in the Sefer Torah for him, and as with all matters of holiness, this should be connected not only with his soul and body, but also with his money — by participating in the expenses of writing the Sefer Torah. This is the place to mention regarding the completion of the Sefer Torah that will take place in the coming days: even those who will not participate with their physical presence, for whatever reason, should take an interest in the details of the matter and participate financially as well…”

The committee also recalled the Rebbe’s words from Shabbos Parshas Beshalach 5741 (1981):

“Everyone must involve themselves in this according to their ability, and even beyond their ability. Through the very decision itself, new channels are opened for him so that he can fulfill his decision.”

The upcoming event will mark the Siyum and Hachnasas Sefer Torah #9 dedicated to Jewish children worldwide, bringing together thousands at the Kosel in a historic celebration of unity.

The Children’s Sefer Torah Committee calls on Anash around the world to take part in the campaign and join in the costs of this special occasion.
