A group of Bochurim and Anash visiting Alma-Ata for Chof Menachem-Av traveled Sunday to the Kever of Rabbi Hillel Liberow A”H, the legendary Shochet U’Bodek who devoted decades of his life with extraordinary Mesirus Nefesh to serving the Jewish community under Soviet rule.
Rabbi Hillel remained steadfast in his mission until his final day, ensuring that Jews throughout the region had access to kosher meat despite the immense challenges of the Communist regime.
Joining the group was Rabbi Saadia Liberow, one of the city’s Shochtim, who continues his family’s tradition of providing kosher meat to the Jews of Kazakhstan.
The Bochurim from Yeshivas Kayitz Oholei Levi Yitzchok recited Tehillim and Kaddish at Rabbi Hillel’s Kever, paying tribute to his lifelong dedication and sacrifice for Yiddishkeit.
