28,910 Dots on One Map: New Interactive Atlas Charts the Rebbe’s Global Reach
A team of bochurim has built The Rebbe’s Global Reach, an interactive atlas mapping 28,910 records across 186 countries: where the Rebbe lived and traveled, Tanya printings, Merkos Shlichus visits, shluchim, Chabad Houses and letters • Full Story
A new interactive historical atlas, created by a team of bochurim, is using modern technology to map the Rebbe’s global impact in a concrete, visual way. The Rebbe’s Global Reach brings together 28,910 geo-referenced records spanning 186 countries and territories, from 1797 until today.
Each record appears as a color-coded dot: yellow for the 228 locations where the Rebbe himself was, from Nikolayev and Yekaterinoslav through Paris and Lisbon before arriving in New York in 1941; teal for 8,097 places where Tanya was printed; green for 7,071 Merkos Shlichus visits; pink for 6,231 places where shluchim serve today; purple for 3,151 Chabad Houses; and light blue for 4,132 places to which the Rebbe sent dated letters.
Users can filter by category, explore any range of years with a timeline slider, and even watch the map grow year by year. A “Before and After Gimmel Tammuz” view shows the Rebbe’s continued impact and the explosive growth of his shluchim’s work around the world.
The atlas, available at therebbesimpact.com, is still growing, and visitors are invited to submit records, a shliach, a letter, a Tanya printing, to be added to the map.
