Nearly one year after the Chanukah terror attack at Bondi Beach that took 15 precious lives, Chabad of Bondi has announced the Bondi Unity Sefer Torah, a worldwide initiative to write a Sefer Torah in loving memory of the kedoshim.
Among the 15 kedoshim were two Chabad shluchim, and their loss was felt deeply throughout the worldwide family of shluchim. The initiative is therefore taking on special significance at this year’s Kinus Hashluchim, where the Sefer Torah will be present and shluchim from around the world will have the opportunity to personally write letters on behalf of the communities they serve.
Under the banner “Bound As One: One People. One Sefer Torah,” Jews everywhere are invited to take part by dedicating a letter, word or portion in memory of the kedoshim. Through the letters written at the Kinus, communities from every corner of the globe will become part of the very same Torah.
The Sefer Torah will be completed exactly one year after the attack, transforming a date of unimaginable heartbreak into a moment of Jewish unity, remembrance and hope, a living memorial that will be read from week after week for generations.
