A tense incident unfolded on Wednesday at 770 Eastern Parkway, the World Headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch in Crown Heights, when a man armed with a knife and a baseball bat entered the Shul.
Those inside quickly confronted the suspect and managed to force him out of the building before officers from the New York City Police Department arrived.
Baruch Hashem, no injuries were reported.
According to witnesses, the suspect, who is not Jewish, entered the building wearing a yarmulke in an apparent attempt to blend in with those inside. However, the weapons he was carrying quickly aroused suspicion, prompting Mispalelim to intervene.
A brief physical struggle ensued, during which those present subdued the suspect and removed him from the building.
Police responded to the scene and took the man into custody.
According to initial assessments, authorities do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the area.
