    By Rabbi Gershon Avtzon

This Shabbas, Chaya Sara 5787, is the Kinus Hashluchim. It is a time when the Rebbe invites his loyal soldiers to come “home” and recharge themselves and refocus themselves on the shlichus that he gave them (and each one of us): “to receive our righteous Moshiach in the true and complete Redemption. Indeed, the preparation for the coming of our righteous Moshiach is the most all encompassing aspect of Judaism and includes all the other points and details of the work of shlichus.”

I would like to begin by sharing a letter from the Rebbe that I received recently when writing about a particular challenge that could really strengthen each shliach. It is a letter that I return to pretty often to remind myself of what is written there and to strengthen myself (Igros Kodesh volume 17 page 109 #6257):

“Regarding yourself: I have written in the past that praise is your lot that the Hashgacha Elyona put you in the best position – establishing and expanding the institutions of the Rebbe in your country. The Nassi (Rebbe) – and Tzaddikim in general – are similar to their creator (Hashem) in that they do not make unfair demands of their emissaries. Thus, they are always evoking great mercy (from Hashem) and are giving the necessary strength to their emissaries that they can fulfill their mission in the best way. This is simple to understand.”

Regarding the actual Shlichus, of everything that we do being permeated with knowledge of Moshiach, I would like to share two sichos that help us understand the difference this has in our day to day activities of our shlichus. These two sichos will help all of us understand that having our shlichus being permeated with Moshiach is not just an abstract idea; rather, it has actual differences in the application and success of our shlichus:

    1) ”The general idea is that the revelation of Moshiach (on Acharon Shel Pesach) has to permeate all the other Mivztoim, that they should be done in a way that the “spirit of Moshiach” permeates their actions…

In simple words – in regards to practical application: When a person needs to start being involved with Mivtzoim, he begins making calculations: What should I start with and what should come next? How much should I invest myself (personally, financially and emotionally) in this project and how much in another project? What will “Ploni Ben Ploni” say about my involvement in Mivtzoim? And in general, we need to operate according to nature as “we don’t rely on miracles” and all similar calculations.

To deal with these calculations, we are giving the directive: Bring the spirit of Moshiach – which is the Yechida – in all aspects of your activities of Mivtzoim:

When a person is operating and serving Hashem with a revealed Yechida, the only thing that matters is Hashem. Automatically, there is no room for any of the (above-mentioned) calculations – what will so-and-so say and what will the angels (the angel that is appointed to be in charge of physical parnasah) say – because being that he is connected to the true “one and only” (Hashem) he he higher than all these things. He is higher than angels and higher than calculations – even calculations that are holy calculations. The only thing that concerns him is fulfilling the will of Hashem.” (Farbrengen of Acharon Shel Pesach 5746 chapter 21).

    2) “We can learn from this (what the Rebbe was explaining at length in the sicha) that all aspects of our service of Hashem, also in the time of exile, have to be connected with Moshiach. That means that also the Avoda of Torah, Mitzvos and Teshuva have to be permeated with the clear recognition that the cost complete way we will be serving Hashem will only be in the times of Moshiach..This itself (that we have this knowledge in every aspect of our Avodas Hashem), will inspire the desire and yearning for the true and complete Geulah.” (Likutei Sichos volume 30 page 43).

To finish with the words of the Rebbe in 5752: “From the international convention must come and be brought good resolutions such that every shliach must prepare himself and prepare all Jews in his place and city, etc. to greet our righteous Moshiach. This should be done through his explanation of the concept of Moshiach, as explained in the Written Torah and the Oral Torah, in a way that it will be received by everyone according to his intellect and understanding. This includes in particular learning the subject of Moshiach and Redemption, and specifically in a manner of Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge.

“And since this is the Divine service of the time, it’s understood this applies to every Jew without any exception whatsoever.”
