Reports of heightened regional tensions are raising questions about whether the many Shluchim from Israel planning to attend the annual Kinus Hashluchim in New York will be able to make the trip as scheduled.
According to reports, a source in the United Arab Emirates said countries across the region are preparing for the possibility of an escalation around November 4, one day after the U.S. midterm elections on November 3.
The source described heightened alert levels across the region, saying that foreign diplomats are increasingly concerned that an escalation may be approaching. Some are reportedly even considering the possibility of evacuation.
The developments have raised questions among the thousands of Shluchim expected to attend the annual Kinus Hashluchim, one of the major events of the Chabad calendar.
More than 1,000 Shluchim from Israel are planning to travel to New York around November 4 to participate in the international gathering.
For now, it remains unclear whether the security situation will affect flights from Israel or the ability of Shluchim to reach the Kinus. The situation will depend on developments in the region and instructions from the relevant authorities.
