In two important cities in Russia, the news of the appointments of new Shluchim who will henceforth serve as the cief rabbi’s of these citiies was received with joy and rejoicing, which will bring brachos to Jewish life in these cities and to the development of the long-standing communities existing there — within the framework of the ‘Union of Jewish Communities in Russia’, which unites hundreds of Jewish communities in the state of Russia.
The appointment was made by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, after numerous requests, and the need was felt to appoint permanent Rabbonim who would live in the area and faithfully serve the community, as in dozens of large and important cities throughout the country.
For this purpose, two brothers of the Feldman family were chosen: Rabbi Gershon Zvi for the city of Penza and his younger brother, Rabbi Menachem Mendel, for the city of Obninsk. The brothers were ordained to the rabbinate, and since their marriages into Shluchim families in Moscow, they have served as maggid shiurim in the local yeshivos and have now been privileged to join the legion of Shluchim.
The city of Penza is located southeast of Moscow, in the Volga River region, and the city of Obninsk is located in the Kaluga Region, on the banks of the Paratova River, southwest of Moscow.
Russia’s Chief Rabbi hosted two brothers and their families for a l’Chaim and inspiration, ahead of their new Shlichus in Russia.
