A large rock was thrown through the front entrance of the Chabad House in northwest Seattle on Sunday evening, damaging the glass door of the building but Baruch Hashem causing no injuries.

According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded to the scene shortly before 8:00 p.m. after reports of vandalism at Chabad of Northwest Seattle, located on North 85th Street. Police found shattered glass scattered near the entrance and discovered a large rock inside the building. Authorities said nothing appeared to have been stolen and no additional damage was reported.

The Chabad House is led by the Rebbe’s shliach, Rabbi Yoni Levitin, together with his wife Mushka, who have been serving the Jewish community of northwest Seattle since founding the center in 2015. The Chabad serves neighborhoods including Ballard, Greenwood, Green Lake, Fremont and surrounding areas.

Rabbi Levitin said that, at this stage, the motive behind the incident remains unclear. “The police responded swiftly, and we are reviewing our security protocols with experts and authorities,” he said, adding that activities and Shabbos programs will continue as scheduled.

Police stated that the case is currently not being investigated as a hate crime, though the investigation remains ongoing.
