PayPal to Let U.S. Merchants Accept Over 100 Cryptocurrencies
PayPal has launched a new feature allowing U.S. merchants using its online payment platform to accept payments in more than 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and even novelty tokens like TrumpCoin • Read More
The crypto payments will be converted into PayPal’s stablecoin (PYUSD) and then into U.S. dollars before reaching the merchant, using exchanges like Coinbase or Uniswap depending on the customer’s wallet.
Merchants will be charged a promotional fee of 0.99% for the first year, increasing to 1.5% afterward—slightly below the national average credit card fee of 1.57%.
The move marks PayPal’s latest expansion into the crypto space, following previous offerings that allowed individuals and businesses to buy, sell, and hold digital assets. The company’s stablecoin has grown significantly in 2025, and PayPal says it plans to roll out the crypto acceptance feature to larger U.S. and international merchants in the future.
