New Beis Medrash Behind 770 Completed, Ready for Hundreds of Bochurim

Construction of the spacious new Beis Medrash on Union Street, directly behind 770 Eastern Parkway, has been completed, adding over 4,500 square feet of learning space on the historic Kollel Menachem site. • Full Story, Photos

The new Beis Medrash rising directly behind Lubavitch World Headquarters has been completed, giving bochurim and the wider Crown Heights community a spacious new setting for Torah study in the heart of the neighborhood.

The one-story structure on Union Street, on the site historically associated with Kollel Menachem, offers approximately 4,500 square feet of climate-controlled interior space with a 20-foot ceiling, and is designed to accommodate more than 300 people.

Work advanced at a remarkable pace in recent months, from structural beams to intensive site preparation, with crews lowering the floor level to align the new learning space with the main zal at 770. The project was described as a temporary facility, answering the immediate need for learning space without foreclosing future development of the property.

The location carries deep significance. The Kollel was established by the Rebbe in 5722 under the auspices of Machne Israel and the Rebbe’s Mazkirus, operating at 1451 and 1453 Union Street until 5760, when it moved to Kingston Avenue.

The completed hall comes as thousands of guests arrive in the neighborhood for the Kinus HaShluchim season, providing much-needed room for learning, davening and farbrengens.
