Preparations are in full swing for the historic Hachnasas Sefer Torah of the ninth Children’s Sefer Torah, as organizers and officials gathered last week for a special planning meeting at the office of the Rabbi of the Kosel and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, to coordinate what is expected to be one of the largest Jewish gatherings of the year.

The meeting was chaired by Rabbi Rabinowitz and attended by Rabbi Solly Eliav, Director-General of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, members of the Rabbi’s office, representatives of the Children’s Sefer Torah Committee, and the event’s production team.

Opening the meeting, Rabbi Rabinowitz warmly welcomed the participants and reflected on the privilege of helping organize the Children’s Sefer Torah celebrations at the Kosel for decades. He recalled attending the ceremonies himself as a young man, describing them as unforgettable events that embodied the unity of the Jewish people.

Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, chairman of the Children’s Sefer Torah Committee, spoke about the unique significance of the Children’s Sefer Torah campaign, emphasizing that the Rebbe repeatedly highlighted the tremendous merit and spiritual value of participating in writing a Sefer Torah and encouraged every Jew to become a partner in the project.

He also stressed the special significance of holding the Hachnasas Sefer Torah at the Kosel, in accordance with the Rebbe’s directive that the celebration take place at Judaism’s holiest and most unifying site. Rabbi Greisman thanked Rabbi Rabinowitz and his staff for their longstanding support and cooperation, which has enabled these historic ceremonies to take place at the Kosel with the honor and dignity they deserve.

Also participating in the meeting were committee members, including the Rebbe’s shliach to Alfei Menashe, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Raskin; Rabbi Noam Rot, Director of Tzach Jerusalem; Mr. Meny Lerer of Tzvaim Productions; and senior members of the Rabbi of the Kosel’s office, including Rabbi Yossi Bloch and Eden Shimon.

During the meeting, organizers reviewed the tremendous success of the previous Hachnasas Sefer Torah, which drew more than 30,000 participants.

Extensive discussions focused on security, logistics, production, crowd management, and other preparations, as organizers work to ensure that this year’s event will be even larger and more impressive.

As part of the preparations, organizers are calling on the public to participate in the campaign in accordance with the Rebbe’s holy request to take part in the Children’s Sefer Torah initiative “with one’s soul, body, and financial support.”

The organizing committee is inviting Jews everywhere to join the historic celebration, which will unite tens of thousands of participants from Eretz Yisrael and around the world around the ninth Children’s Sefer Torah at the Kosel.
