Throughout his life, Rabbi Sklar was known for his deep hiskashrus to the Rebbe and his dedication to Torah and Chassidus. During his year of learning in 770, he asked the Rebbe regarding the donning of Rabbeinu Tam Tefillin, and the Rebbe responded that it should preferably be placed as close as possible to the donning of Rashi Tefillin.

He is survived by his wife, Rochel Sklar (nee Schorr); his children, Shneur Zalman (Eretz Yisroel), Sholom Ber (Flatbush, NY), Shmuel (Kensington, NY), Chana Feigel (Kensington, NY), Yanky (Wisconsin), Mordechai Mottel (Kensington, NY), Yisroel (Flatbush, NY), Chava Esther (Lakewood, NJ), and Eli Nachum (Kensington, NY); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Aaron Yitzchak, OBM. He is also survived by his younger sister, Chana Sklar of Monsey, New York.
