In a powerful demonstration of faith, solidarity, and unwavering support for the people of Israel, Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida recently returned from their fifth annual Israel Mission a journey that proved to be their most impactful and emotionally charged yet.
Led by Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz and his son and daughter-in-law, Rabbi Meir Simcha and Sheina Minkowicz, the group embarked on a spiritually immersive experience that took them from the sites of modern-day tragedy to the very foundations of ancient Jewish history. Titled “Israel Mission 5.0,” the trip was more than a tour; it was a statement of presence, of purpose, and of prayer.
Standing With Israel on the Frontlines
One of the mission’s most poignant stops was the Kerem Shalom Gaza Border Crossing, a strategic gateway between Israel and the Gaza Strip. There, participants met with local security officials, IDF personnel, and civilians who live daily under the shadow of threat.
In a heartfelt show of gratitude and support, the group personally delivered freshly prepared lunches and cold drinks to the soldiers stationed at the border a small but meaningful gesture that brought nourishment, warmth, and smiles to those bravely defending Israel.
The group listened, learned, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with these heroes, bringing love and encouragement from Southwest Florida directly to Israel’s front lines.
Bearing Witness at Kfar Azza & Nova
The delegation then traveled to Kfar Azza, one of the hardest-hit kibbutzim during the October 7th massacre. There, they walked through the ruins, saw the devastation firsthand, and joined in prayers for the souls of the fallen and the healing of the survivors. The emotional weight of the site served as a heartbreaking reminder of the stakes Israel faces daily and the importance of Jewish unity in the face of adversity.
At the site of the Nova Music Festival, the group stood where so many young lives were senselessly cut short. In that sacred space, they lit candles, recited Psalms, and reaffirmed their commitment to bringing light into darkness.
Walking in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors
From modern tragedy to ancient triumph, the group’s visit to the City of David was a spiritual high point. In an extraordinary moment, participants were granted special access to a section of the Second Temple Pilgrimage Road an area still under archaeological excavation and not yet open to the public. As they walked the ancient stones their ancestors once treaded en route to the Beit HaMikdash, the group experienced a profound connection to Jewish heritage, continuity, and resilience.
Mission Accomplished, But Not Over
“Israel Mission 5.0 was not just a trip it was a declaration,” said Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz. “A declaration that we are one people with one heart. That no matter the distance, the Jewish people stand united in pain, in prayer, and in purpose.”
The success of the mission echoes far beyond the borders of Israel. It is now reverberating through the communities of Southwest Florida, where participants have returned inspired, uplifted, and determined to continue supporting Israel with renewed strength.
Plans are already underway for Israel Mission 6.0, with more opportunities for community members to engage in this life-changing journey.
