The Israel Defense Forces announced this morning (Tuesday) the names of four soldiers from the Nahal Reconnaissance Unit who fell yesterday in battle in southern Lebanon while defending the Jewish people in Eretz Yisroel.

The fallen are: Captain Noam Madmoni, 22, from Sderot; Staff Sgt. Ben Cohen, 21, from Lehavim; Staff Sgt. Maksim Antis, 21, from Bat Yam; and Staff Sgt. Gilad Harel, 21, from Modiin-Maccabim-Reut. HY”D.

In the same incident, one soldier was seriously wounded, and two additional soldiers were moderately injured.

The incident took place yesterday at approximately 6:30 PM, when Nahal reconnaissance forces operating under Division 162 in western southern Lebanon identified terrorist cells in the area.

A fierce close-range battle ensued, with heavy exchanges of fire. The soldiers returned fire and struck the terrorists, but during the fighting, the four soldiers were wounded.

During evacuation efforts, the terrorists fired an anti-tank missile toward the forces. Miraculously, no additional injuries were reported from that strike. The forces continued fighting with determination, assisted by tank fire and airstrikes, until the terrorists were neutralized.

In a separate announcement yesterday, the IDF confirmed the death of Sgt. Liran Ben Zion, 19, from Holon, a soldier in the 9th Battalion of the 401st Brigade. A tank officer was seriously wounded in that incident.

Earlier this week, it was also announced that Sgt. Moshe Yitzchak HaKohen Katz, HY”D, a 22-year-old Lubavitcher paratrooper from New Haven, Connecticut, fell in battle in southern Lebanon.

Last week, Sgt. Aviad Elchanan Wolansky, 21, from Jerusalem, was killed by an anti-tank missile fired at IDF forces in southern Lebanon. Four additional soldiers were lightly injured in that attack.

Earlier that same day, the IDF announced the passing of Staff Sgt. Uri Greenberg, 21, from Petach Tikva, a soldier in the Golani Reconnaissance Unit, who fell in battle during an encounter with terrorists.
