The IDF cleared for publication on Sunday morning that Staff Sgt. Michael Tyukin, HY”D, 21, of Ashkelon, a soldier in the Givati Reconnaissance Unit (Battalion 846), was killed in a Hezbollah explosive drone attack in southern Lebanon.
Four additional soldiers sustained light injuries in the incident.
The attack occurred Motzei Shabbos at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the village of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, located north of the Litani River in southern Lebanon.
According to the IDF, an explosive drone launched by the Hezbollah terrorist organization struck an area where forces from the Givati Reconnaissance Unit were operating. As a result of the impact, Staff Sgt. Tyukin was killed and four other soldiers were wounded and evacuated for medical treatment.
Tyukin’s death brings the number of Israeli fatalities since the Lebanon ceasefire took effect to 13. According to reports, nine of those deaths—including eight soldiers and one civilian—have resulted from Hezbollah explosive drone attacks.
Since the outbreak of Operation Swords of Iron, 950 IDF soldiers have fallen in defense of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. May G-D avenge their blood.
