From Kfar Chabad to the Knesset? Lubavitcher Placed Ninth on Otzma Yehudit List
Otzma Yehudit chairman and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has announced that Chabad activist R’ Yossi Goldberger of Kfar Chabad will be placed ninth on the party’s list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Ben Gvir announced that Goldberger, 39, a Chabad public activist and father of four, will be placed in the ninth position on the Otzma Yehudit list for the 26th Knesset.
Goldberger has served in recent years as an adviser to ministers and Knesset members, working on behalf of individuals, communities and institutions with government ministries and local authorities. He is also among the founders of the Givat Lubavitch community in Kfar Chabad and Lod.
If Otzma Yehudit wins enough seats in the October 27 elections, Goldberger could become the latest Chabad Chassid to serve in the Knesset, following R’ Eliezer Mizrachi and R’ Shabtai Katz. His placement also comes as political parties are finalizing their lists and seeking to position candidates ahead of the election.
Election Race Enters Key Stage
The political system is entering one of the final stages before the elections. Yesterday, September 8, was the deadline for submitting candidate lists to the Central Elections Committee, following recent changes that brought the deadline forward to allow additional time to examine the lists. The election itself is scheduled for October 27, 2026.
With the deadline approaching, parties are completing their slates and making last-minute decisions regarding candidates and political alliances. The coming days will see the submitted lists reviewed and finalized as the country moves toward election day.
Whether Goldberger will ultimately take his place in the Knesset remains to be determined at the ballot box.
