EL AL to Operate Special Flights for American Citizens Unable to Depart Israel

Amid ongoing security concerns in the region, EL AL announced on Friday that it will operate special flights for American citizens currently in Israel whose scheduled return flights to the United States were canceled • Read More

The initiative, coordinated with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, aims to provide a secure and efficient way for travelers to return home. Beginning March 16, EL AL plans to operate six non-stop flights from Tel Aviv to New York, exclusively for American citizens.

Officials noted that the flights are expected to depart at full capacity, pending final government approvals. Passengers affected by canceled EL AL flights will be proactively contacted starting Sunday morning, and offered seats on the special flights at no additional cost. Priority will be given to those originally holding EL AL tickets.

Travelers are also asked to complete a registration form on the airline’s website to be considered for placement. EL AL emphasized that registration does not guarantee placement, and that schedules or eligibility may change depending on developments in regional security and airspace.

The airline further indicated that it is prepared to expand the number of dedicated flights if demand requires, subject to government approvals.

This program represents a coordinated effort to ensure safe and timely travel for American citizens wishing to return to the United States during this challenging period.
