Chabad of Chevron, under the direction of the Rebbe’s Shliach Rabbi Dani Cohen, is making extensive preparations for Shabbos Parshas Chayei Sarah, when thousands of Jews from across Eretz Yisroel and around the world are expected to arrive in the City of the Avos.
As part of the preparations, large tents and guest facilities are being set up to accommodate the many visitors throughout Shabbos, providing space for meals, davening and visits to Me’aras HaMachpelah.
The annual gathering brings tens of thousands of Jews to Chevron each year, as visitors come to spend Shabbos near the resting place of the Avos and Imahos, in the week when the Torah recounts Avraham Avinu’s purchase of Me’aras HaMachpelah. Chabad’s Hachnosas Orchim operation has become a central part of the preparations, with large communal meals and accommodations arranged for the many guests.
The Rebbe’s Shluchim in Chevron are working to ensure that every guest receives the hospitality and assistance needed to spend Shabbos in the City of the Avos.
