Between the busy seasons of the month of Tishrei and the Kinus Hashluchim that will be taking place in just a few weeks, ChabadInfo.com photographer Shmuel Amit, used the opportunity to do some ‘Bikur Hamosdos’ and visit some of the Chabad Houses in Mexico.

After Amit’s first stop that ChabadInfo.com reported a few days ago to Playa del Carmen, directed and ran by Rabbi and Mrs. Chaim Brod, he continued to his next stop.

His second stop was to the Chabad House of Cozumel, directed and ran by Rabbi and Mrs. Dudi Caplan together with the help of Rabbi and Mrs. Shalom Peleg. Cozumel is a mostly undeveloped Mexican island in the Caribbean Sea, it is a popular cruise ship port of call famed for its scuba diving. At Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park, there’s diving spots around a section of the Mesoamerican Reef and the Museo Subacuático de Arte’s submerged sculptures.

The Shluchim of Cozumel, together with the help of a few Bochurim work around the clock to help all of the Yidden in Cozumel, including the locals, tourists and the thousands of Israeli backpackers that come through the doors annually.

Rabbi Caplan started his Shlichus in Cozumel close to ten years ago. Together with the other Shluchim in town, they are consistently growing in their activities. During some parts of the year they serve such large quantities of people that they need two shifts for Shabbos or Yom Tov meals.

In addition to the Chabad House, there are a number or kosher eateries in Cozumel under the Kosher supervision of Rabbi Caplan.
