Yesterday evening (Motzei Shabbos), following a heavy barrage of Iranian rockets toward the Holy Land, a large missile fragment struck the Pizem family’s apartment in Lod.

The fragment caused severe damage to part of the home – yet, through a great miracle, no member of the family was physically harmed.

What exactly happened in the moments when the fragment hit the house? Where were you as a family at that time, and how did you experience those moments?

“We don’t have a protected safe room in the house… I was with my family in the safest place in the house, next to an internal stone wall,” he shared.

“Suddenly we heard a very loud and powerful explosion. We immediately realized it was close, but we never imagined it would be right inside the house. A few seconds later, smoke rose and a sharp smell began, and then we understood what had happened.”

“Immediately, we took the children, the Tefillin, and a dollar from The Rebbe’s, and went outside until the bomb squad arrived to ensure everything was safe.”

What goes through your mind in the first few seconds after the house is hit?

“When I saw immediately that we were healthy and unharmed, I realized that Hashem had performed a great miracle for us. Just a meter away, everything could have been very different… Apparently, we have a mission to continue working in the world, for ourselves and for our children.”

What damage was caused to the house as a result of the hit?

“The bathroom and toilet were completely destroyed, including most of the clothes that were waiting to be washed. The damage to the house is very noticeable, but thank G‑D, no one was hurt – and that is the main thing.”

What message would you like to convey to the residents of the city and to the people of Israel after this event?

“Follow the guidelines and don’t try to be clever – it saves lives,” he responded immediately.

How do you continue your routine and your Shlichus after such a moment, which reminds us of the complex security reality?

“Hashem loves us and gave us a big hug. We must understand that He does everything for good and for blessing and watches over us, and everything is part of a Divine plan.”

“We remained here and must continue, adding to our mission and to the great light of the Rebbe, preparing the world to greet Moshiach.”
