According to reports, the young girl was being transported to school in the Valley Village area as part of a regular school transportation route. For reasons still under investigation, the child apparently remained inside the vehicle after it arrived at the school. The driver, reportedly unaware that she was still inside, parked the vehicle and left the area.
Hours later, at the end of the school day, the girl’s mother arrived to pick her up and was informed by school staff that her daughter had never entered the building that morning.
Emergency responders and rescue teams were immediately called to the scene, but tragically, the child could not be saved after suffering from the extreme heat inside the vehicle.
The girl’s name has not yet been released.
The devastating incident has shaken the Jewish community and serves as another painful reminder of the dangers posed by hot vehicles during the warmer months. Community members and safety organizations are once again urging parents, drivers, and transportation providers to take extra precautions to ensure that no child is ever forgotten in a car.
