Chanukah: Revealing The Light Within Our Circumstances

Question: Because I love Chanukah so much, I think that’s what makes my situation so difficult. We live in Israel, and my husband works U.S. hours. That means lighting the menorah falls right in the middle of his workday, and he doesn’t finish until midnight Israel time. The good news is that he works from home and has a 45-minute break, so we are able to light the menorah with the kids. But right afterwards he has to rush back to work. I want to sit together, have dinner, play dreidel, and leisurely enjoy the full Chanukah atmosphere. Instead, it ends up being just me and the kids, and it takes away from what I dream Chanukah should feel like.
