The new Chabad House marks a major new chapter in the Shlichus of Rabbi Levi and his family. Over the past three years, the Shluchim have built relationships with hundreds of Jews and numerous families, creating a growing need for a facility that could accommodate the expanding activity.

After an extensive search, a spacious building was found in the diplomatic district, one of Nairobi’s safest neighborhoods and near numerous diplomatic missions. The new facility includes a Shul, guest accommodations, spaces for Shabbos programs, classes and events, as well as a large garden.

The impact of the move was felt almost immediately. Within less than two months, more Jews had participated in activities at the new Chabad House than had participated throughout the entire previous year. Many Jewish families who had not previously been connected with Chabad House began coming, including diplomatic families and Jews from around the world living in the area.

During the evening, Rabbi Levi recalled the Rebbe’s guidance to Shluchim to always seek out the largest and most suitable location possible, with the confidence that it would eventually be filled. In Kenya, that vision quickly became reality.

The Chabad House is also launching a permanent Sunday School for children ages 5–10, providing Jewish education and a connection to Jewish life.

One moving story shared during the evening highlighted the impact of the Shlichus. A Jewish family had previously lived in several countries, and in one location the mother went to great lengths to obtain a Shofar for her children so they could see and learn about the Mitzva, despite having no one to blow it. After the family arrived in Kenya, Rabbi Levi visited their home, affixed Mezuzos and blew the Shofar for the children for the first time.

Looking ahead, the Shluchim are working toward purchasing land and establishing a permanent Jewish center in Kenya, including a Mikvah, Shul, community center and Jewish educational facilities. The announcement was met with excitement and applause.

The evening, which concluded with a Rosh Hashanah toast, marked far more than the dedication of a new building. It signaled a new stage in Jewish life in Kenya, with a growing Chabad presence and a new home equipped to serve an expanding community.
