Rabbi Moshe Asman, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and the Rebbe’s Shliach, participated in the cornerstone-laying ceremony for Israel’s National Aviation Heritage Center in Atarot, alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, and other dignitaries.
The new center will include a dedicated memorial honoring the legendary Operation Entebbe (Operation Yonatan) as Israel marked the mission’s 50th anniversary.
“It was a great honor to take part in laying the cornerstone for the National Aviation Heritage Center in Atarot,” Rabbi Asman said. “On the grounds of the former Atarot Airport near Jerusalem, a museum will be built to preserve the memory of the heroes who rescued the hostages at Entebbe, as well as the operation’s commander, Yonatan Netanyahu, who was killed during the mission.”
Reflecting on the ceremony, Rabbi Asman added, “Fifty years have passed, yet Operation Entebbe continues to inspire people around the world, reminding us that courage, unity, and the willingness to fight for every human life can change the course of history.”
