American Airlines has extended the suspension of several international routes into 2027, as airlines continue adjusting schedules amid ongoing global instability and changing travel demand.
According to recent reports, the airline pushed back the planned return of its nonstop New York–Tel Aviv route until at least January 6, 2027, canceling an earlier restart plan that had already been delayed multiple times since the outbreak of the war in the region.
The route had originally been expected to resume during 2026, with tickets already placed on sale, but passengers are now being notified that the flights will not operate as scheduled. Travelers impacted by the cancellations are being offered rebooking options or refunds in accordance with the airline’s policies.
Industry analysts note that ongoing security concerns, rising operational costs, and instability in Middle East airspace continue to affect airline planning worldwide. Several international carriers have similarly reduced or suspended flights to Israel in recent months.
The continued suspension leaves Israel’s direct New York route with significantly fewer nonstop options, increasing pressure on the remaining airlines operating the corridor.
