As we have reported, Rabbi Moshe Meir Gluckowsky, secretary of the administration of the central Yeshivah in 770, decided – on his own accord – to close the kitchen. And since Sunday morning, the Bochurim haven’t received food from the Yeshivah.
Yesterday, Thursday, following pressure by the Hanhalah Ruchnis and many parents of students, a rumor circled in the name of Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi that the kitchen and dining room will reopen, and any Bochur registered in the Yeshiva in 770 will continue to receive meals from the kitchen.
Today, Friday, Rabbi Gluckowsky announced that the kitchen will reopen on Sunday morning, in a move reversing his unfortunate decision of a week ago.
As the arrangement was prior to the kitchen closing, due to the coronavirus, the dining room will remain closed. Every Bochur will be able to come to the kitchen and pick up his meal.
ChabadInfo.com has followed the story closely throughout all of the developments, and we sincerely hope that this time the assurances made will be kept, and the Bochurim will indeed no longer have to worry about a lack of food interfering with their Limmud HaTorah.

It is worth mentioning that the secretary’s claim that the Bochurim are “guests” and therefore Eshel has the responsibility to take care of them, is strange and outrageous.
The Bochurim are not guests, rather Talmidim in the Yeshiva, to which their parents pay tuition, and obviously the sole responsibility for their food is on the Yeshiva.
In addition, when the Yeshiva’s kitchen was closed by the health department last year, Eshel provided its kitchen and dining room to the Yeshiva for two months, further making this bizarre attack on Eshel very ungrateful, to say the least.
