The New York City Police Department has officially appointed Deputy Inspector Ronald Perez as the new commanding officer of the 71st Precinct, which serves the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn.
Perez previously served as commanding officer of Brooklyn’s 63rd Precinct and has also held positions in several NYPD divisions and precincts, including prior service within the 71st Precinct itself.
As part of his new role, he will oversee public safety throughout the area, including responsibility for security and coordination surrounding 770, which draws thousands of visitors and guests throughout the year.
Community representatives have already met with the new commander ahead of the busy Tishrei season and expressed hopes for continued cooperation between local organizations and precinct leadership.
