Chabad of the Grove has announced a capital campaign to expand and renovate its iconic Chabad House, with plans to restore the historic, 90 year old building and to include a school, mikva, social hall, and Holocaust memorial.

Chabad of the Grove includes 13 Chabad centers that serve the South Dade Florida community and is under the leadership of Rabbi Yakov and Gutel Fellig, Shluchim of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Florida since 1989.

The design for the one-acre property calls for a new, state-of-the-art building for Chabad’s Montessori school and a Walk of Tolerance that will serve as the only Holocaust memorial in South Dade. Rabbi Fellig has commissioned the world renowned architecture firm Arquitectonica to design the project, who’s skyscrapers and parks have shaped the designs of cities like New York, Macau, Shanghai, Seoul, and Paris.

“This project came about out of the dual need to memorialize our past while meeting the spiritual needs of the future,” said Rabbi Fellig. “Our community, which includes many Holocaust survivors and their families, has found it increasingly important to create a lasting memorial to the Holocaust in our area as well as to commemorate terror victims in Israel and all others Jews who have died al kiddush Hashem. Likewise, Coconut Grove is one of the fastest growing areas in South Florida and the expanded facilities will allow us to meet the spiritual needs of the influx of new families.”
