The State Senate in Florida approved the ‘Moment of Silence’ for all public schools earlier today. This law was met with approval from lawmakers from both sides of the aisle. One proponent of the bill is Rabbi Schneur Oirechman, who founded Chabad of Tallahassee and FSU 21 years ago. After California’s Chabad of Poway shooting that killed one woman in 2019, Oirechman said he and a group of other rabbis wrote to Sen. Dennis Baxley, R-Lady Lake, advocating a moment of silence. Following the recent news in Canada that Camp Gan Yisroel Toronto and Montreal cannot open, Florida Governor Ron Desantis just announced that the state of Florida is lifting all restrictions on youth activities including overnight camps. It appears the camp Gan Yisroel of Florida is the first Lubavitch camp that has permission from the state to open. We are waiting to hear from the camp what the next steps going forward are • Watch
