770: Vehicle Rams Rear Entrance Ahead of Yud Shevat Farbrengen

According to initial reports, the driver—believed to be acting out of antisemitic intent—accelerated toward the back doors of the large zal, causing damage to the entrance. Baruch Hashem, no injuries were reported.
Large numbers of NYPD forces, senior police officials, and emergency teams rushed to the scene, and the building was evacuated as a precaution. Following the incident, organizers announced that the central farbrengen would be postponed to the following night at 9:30 PM.
Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Kratz, shamash of 770, stated: “Baruch Hashem, everyone is safe. An individual drove a vehicle toward the western entrance doors of the shul. There were no injuries, only minor damage.”
Later in the night, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani arrived at the scene, received a briefing from police officials, and issued a strong statement condemning antisemitism. “I am relieved that no one was harmed in this horrifying incident,” he said. “Any threat against a Jewish institution or house of worship must be taken with utmost seriousness. Antisemitism has no place in our city.”
After a thorough inspection of the vehicle by a specialized emergency unit, authorities confirmed that no explosives were found. Some security barriers were later removed, though the 770 building remained closed as the investigation continued till the early hours of the morning.
