Geulah and Moshiach is for Every Jew; Violence Has No Place Among Chassidim

During a recent Geulah U’Moshiach Shiur in 770, a few individuals disrupted the class with aggressive behavior. The study of Geulah and Moshiach belongs to every Jew, and violence has no place among Chabad Chassidim • Full Article

Recently, an unfortunate incident occurred in 770 where a small number of individuals raised their hands in an attempt to disrupt a weekly Shiur on the topic of Geulah and Moshiach. This act of aggression, shocked the community and prompted a call to reaffirm the proper conduct expected of Chasidei Chabad and Talmidei Hatemimim. The following reflections aim to clarify the proper perspective on this issue and the values we must uphold.

    A. The subjects of Geulah and Moshiach belong to every Jew — not only to every Chabad Chossid, but to every Jew in the world. The Rebbe wants every Jew to live with Geulah through learning about Inyonei Geulah U’Moshiach, and he states clearly that this is the straight path to bring about the actual revelation of Moshiach. Therefore, every Shiur about Geulah and Moshiach is part of the effort to bring the true and complete redemption in reality. Anyone who holds The Rebbe’s words dear must support every Geulah and Moshiach Shiur — whether or not it concludes with Yechi. It is in everyone’s interest that as many Jews as possible, especially Chabad Chassidim, and most particularly Talmidei Hatemimim, should learn Inyonei Geulah U’Moshiach.

    B. Violence is fundamentally wrong and unjustifiable under any circumstances. This is true for every Jew — and all the more so for Chabad Chassidim and Talmidei HaTemimim. Raising a hand against another is a completely foreign behavior — belonging to Eisav, not, G-d forbid, to a Chossid of Chabad. When such an incident once occurred, The Rebbe instructed the Yeshivah administration that the student who raised his hand should be sent to Bnei Brak!

    C. When someone raises a hand to disrupt a Geulah U’Moshiach class — and especially when it happens in Beis Chayenu, 770 — it is infinitely more severe. It is literally comparable to the Tanya’s parable of one who seizes the King by his head and drags his face into a filthy toilet.

Those who behave violently and disrupt the learning about Geulah and Moshiach have nothing whatsoever to do with Moshiach — regardless of whether they wear a Yechi Yarmulka or a Moshiach pin. They are rebellious individuals misusing The Rebbe’s holy name and subject of Geulah and Moshiach as a cover for disgraceful, violent conduct.

The Rebbe said about the Talmidei Hatemimim that “the majority — perhaps all, are the most precious of the precious,” and that perfectly describes the reality. The overwhelming majority of Bochurim abhor such vile and shameful violence. It’s time for the few individuals responsible for such acts to be dealt with firmly and removed from Beis Chayenu.

And as always, we conclude with good.
