“On Rosh Hashanah, Hurricane Ian took a turn towards our Community in Fort Myers, Florida” says Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz, Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida told Chabdinfo. “It became apparent when only 1 person showed up for our Chassidus class at 9:00 am For Prayers we had a very small group however we BH had a Minyan for Shacharit, Torah Reading, Shofar & Musasf, our Kohen showed up so we had the Priestly Blessings as well.”
“Surprisingly we had a bigger crowd that came for our Lavish Kiddush so we took the opportunity to pray Mincha after the Kiddush. For Maariv we were fortunate to have a minyan as well of people that walked in the Rain.” he continued.
“There was a mandatory evacuation issued for our area however by the time Yom Tov was over & we got word of the evacuation it was passed the time that we were able to leave. The airports closed as well last night at 9:00 pm. All grocery stores & Business as well Schools are closed.”
“Our Chabad will be opening its doors this morning at 10:00 am to Shelter people in our community. The major landfall hit is scheduled between 12:00 and 2:00PM. We are requesting for all to add in Torah, Prayer & Charity for our safety.” Rabbi Minkowicz Added.
May we all be written & sealed in the book of life for a great year with health & happiness.
