The IDF has permitted publication on Motzaei Shabbos the names of two soldiers who fell in the line of duty while defending the Jewish people in southern Lebanon.
The fallen are Capt. Shachar Gamla HY”D (23) from Netur in the southern Golan Heights, an officer in the Egoz Unit, and Sgt. Ohad Yaari HY”D (21) from Rehovot, a soldier in the Givati Brigade.
According to the IDF, Capt. Gamla was critically wounded by an explosive drone strike in Lebanon between Thursday and Friday and later passed away from his wounds during Shabbos.
Sgt. Yaari, who as a child attended a Chabad kindergarten and was at times seen in the central Chabad Shul in Rehovot, was killed during operational circumstances; the incident is under investigation by Military Police.
The IDF expressed condolences to the families and said the soldiers fell while serving in defense of Israel’s civilians amid ongoing combat in the northern arena.
May their memories be for a blessing. May Hashem avenge their blood. And may we merit the fulfillment of the Pasuk, “Awaken and sing, you who dwell in the dust,” with the coming of Moshiach, speedily in our days.
