Russia is Gearing Up for an Active Pesach
As Pesach quickly approaches, the Federation of Jewish Communities, Chabad’s umbrella organization in Russia, is preparing for a Pesach like no other. In several different bakeries, matzah production under the hashgacha of the country’s Senior Shliach and Chief Rabbi Berl Lazar, is well underway, producing enough matzah for every Jew in the vast country to enjoy and fulfill the mitzvah with this year. As Pesach quickly approaches, the Federation of Jewish Communities, Chabad’s umbrella organization in Russia, is preparing for a Pesach like no other. In several different bakeries, matzah production under the hashgacha of the country’s Senior Shliach and Chief Rabbi Berl Lazar, is well underway, producing enough matzah for every Jew in the vast country to enjoy and fulfill the mitzvah with this year.
In addition to matzah production, the nation’s kashrus authorities are working tirelessly to expand the availability of locally produced food that is kosher for Pesach. Their goal is to create an expansive variety of available products for Jews in the country to utilize this Pesach.
Rabbi Lazar has rallied many friends and supporters who have taken it upon themselves to help prepare for the holiday, and is personally monitoring the progress of said preparations. This week he visited the state of the art Karliner matzah bakery in Modi’in Illit, which is producing literal tons of matzah which will soon be carefully packed into shipping containers and sent to Moscow.
With the support of the Werdiger family from Australia, and in cooperation with the Jewish Agency, Chabad will be distributing matzah for Jews all over the country and to Shluchim special for their public sedarim.
A great effort will also be invested this year in the distribution of kimcha depischa packages to hundreds of thousands of needy families, who will receive all of their holiday needs, allowing them to celebrate Pesach properly this year.
