The new campus will serve Ganeinu Academy, a longstanding educational institution that draws Jewish students from throughout the surrounding area. The dedication provided an opportunity to recognize the school’s longstanding work and extensive educational activities, as attendees offered their blessings for continued success in its new home.
Prominent philanthropist and patron of the Ohr Avner institutions, Rabbi Lev Leviev, attended the ceremony together with his wife, Olga; their daughter, Hagit Sofiev-Leviev, president of the Ohr Avner institutions in the United States, and her husband, Gabriel; their son-in-law, Efraim Yelizrov, head of the Religious Council in Savyon; and additional family members.
Welcoming the guests were the Rebbe’s Shluchim to the Bukharian Jewish community and directors of Ohr Avner Chabad in the United States: Rabbi Zalman Zvolunov, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Wolowik and Rabbi Shmuel Kogan. They were joined by Shluchim Rabbi Asher Vaknin and Rabbi Dovid Shushan.
Also in attendance were Israel’s Consul in New York, Ofir Akunis, and his wife; Rabbi Shalom Duchman, director of Colel Chabad; and Rabbi Yehuda Blau, director-general of Ohr Avner in Israel.
The ceremony also drew prominent government and public officials, including U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, Senator Nili Reznik, and other public figures from the region. Several attendees presented special certificates of recognition and congratulatory messages in honor of the occasion.
The highlight of the evening was the installation of the large Mezuzah at the school’s entrance. The final letters were written during the ceremony, completing the Mezuzah as those gathered joined in wishing the institution continued success in its sacred mission of educating Jewish children.
