Andriy Sadovyi, mayor of Lviv (formerly Lemberg), one of Ukraine’s most prominent cities, undertook a 15-hour journey across the country from west to east to Daven at the Ohel of the Alter Rebbe in Haditch in eastern Ukraine.
Sadovyi, who is not Jewish, is considered one of the most veteran and respected politicians in the country and is seen as a figure with significant potential in Ukrainian politics.
During a visit to the Haditch region as part of a heritage tour, his office unexpectedly reached out to Rabbi Shneur Zalman Deitsch, the shliach in charge of the tziyon complex, requesting to coordinate a visit to the holy site for prayer.
At the site, the mayor met with Rabbi Deitsch and shared afterward that he was deeply moved by the experience, noting that he had been planning to visit the holy site for quite some time.
